Bras for a Cure voting starts Tuesday

EUGENE, Ore. - The Bras for the Cure exhibition opens Tuesday.

The fundraiser for the Willamette Valley Cancer Institute invites people to decorate bras.

People can then cast votes for $1 per vote.

The fundraiser is a project of Dandelion Flowers and Gifts in Eugene.

"Last year's winner, 'Let's put the screws to cancer,' she actually did it in memory of a friend who passed away from breast cancer and had stitched the name inside the bra," said Toviana Jackson, who is coordinating the event. "It was very touching. A lot of people this year have also been affected by breast cancer personally or through friends and family."

The big reveal party is 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, October 22, at Dandelion's Flowers and Gifts at Chambers and 18th in Eugene.

Voting continues through October 31. Winners will be announced November 4.
