Smoke from the Deception Complex fire near Oakridge has pushed air quality warnings to moderate in the surrounding cities like Cottage Grove, Creswell, Eugene and Springfield. The "yellow" moderate level is still considered safe by the Lane County Air Protection Agency.

A semi-trailer loaded with a nearly 70-ton turbine rolled while taking the Highway 126 exit to 42nd Street in Springfield Wednesday morning, blocking the exit to westbound drivers for most of the day.

Crews will need a specialized crane to move the 50 foot long turbine before righting the trailer - a process which could take most of the day, the Oregon Department of Transportation said.

ODOT also closed 42nd Street near the Highway 126 overpass as a precaution, should the turbine break loose and roll downhill.

A lawsuit filed against the 7th Day Adventist Church alleges church officials knowingly let a convicted child molester work with Lane County children in the 1970's.

The lawsuit alleges the church let Les Bovee lead in both the Junction City and Veneta branches’ youth program “Pathfinder Club”, even though the man was convicted and sentenced for sexually abusing young boys a few years earlier.

The 7th Day Adventist church has not yet responded to phone calls for comment on the lawsuit.
