The grand jury heard all of the evidence in the case.

The prosecutor said the 24-hour news cycle - and social media - made the investigation difficult.

Lane County Public Works received the 2013 Project of the Year Award from the Oregon Chapter of the American Public Works Association for work rebuilding a section of Sweet Creek Road. “This was a difficult project that started out with a retaining wall replacement and quickly became a bridge building project as we learned more about the site conditions,” said county engineer Bill Morgan.

A road advisory committee comprised of Lane County residents considered 28 different option to increase funding.

The committee found that increasing the annual vehicle registration fee by $35 was the most cost-efficient for the county and its residents.

The county proposes to split the revenues 60/40 with 12 cities within Lane County. The funds would be distributed based on population.
