The University of Oregon officially entered the public phase of its fundraising campaign on Friday night with the announcement of a $2 billion effort.

The most ambitious campaign in the UO’s history is also the largest fundraising effort ever undertaken by an organization in the state.

The play, known as The Pick, is celebrated as a turning point in the program's history.

http://media.kmtr.com/images/141016boren330.jpgNORTH BEND, Ore. - A woman faces charges of Murder by Abuse and Manslaughter in the death of her 87-year-old mother.

The Coos County Grand Jury indicted Vana Gaye Boren, 54, on Wednesday. She faced arraignment on the charges Friday.

The charges allege that, between the start of the year and March 9, Boren caused the death of her mother, Willa Faye Boren, "under circumstances manifesting extreme indifference to human life," the district attorney said.

Murder by Abuse carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 25 years.

Manslaughter is punishable by at least 10 years and as many as 20 years.
