The University of Oregon Ducks are hosting ESPN's College GameDay next Saturday morning before they face off against the No. 8 Michigan State Spartans.

This will make for the 6th year in a row the ESPN GameDay crew has made the trip to Eugene.

"I love the passion that the fans have for this team," GameDay's Kirk Herbstreit said before last year's live broadcast on the University of Oregon campus.

An underweight black bear that was rehabilitated after living off a Redmond family's bird feeder was released into the wild Thursday afternoon.

In June, officers used a doughnut to lure the 1-year-old bear when they realized she was underweight, and brought her to PAWS for rehabilitation. Naturalists reintroduced the bear to her native diet of skunk cabbage and berries, and discovered she doesn't like radishes or watermelon.

Security cameras caught two teenage vandals ramming a stolen golf cart into the doors of the Cottage Grove High School athletic complex early Friday morning, just days before students return to class.

The surveillance footage shows the two teens stealing a golf cart from the nearby Hidden Valley Golf Course early in the morning.

“The golf cart had been rammed through these doors behind me here and was actually stuck in the door,” said Krista Parent, superintendent of the district.

A police officer shot and injured the driver of a stolen car early Thursday morning after chasing the car up Interstate 5 from Springfield to a gas station near Albany, the Linn County Sheriff's Office said.

The suspect, Amanda Gatewood, 44, of Springfield, was taken to a Corvallis hospital and is listed in critical condition.

According to the sheriff, Springfield Police were pursuing Gatewood in a stolen 2000 Suzuki Vitara north on Interstate 5. Officials said Gatewood took the Highway 34 exit and stopped at the entrance to the Chevron Gas Station on the west side of I-5.

She got out of the vehicle and started running toward the convenience store. Officers shot Gatewood when she pointed what appeared to be a handgun at officers, the Linn County Sheriff's Office said.

The highly-active Deception Creek fire escaped some containment lines Wednesday, spreading nearly a mile away from some homes along Highway 58. Willamette National Forest officials issued a level 2 evacuation for some residents near Westfir, which asks people to get ready to leave their homes.

Residents along La Duke and Harbour Roads are aslo under a level 2 evacuation, Willamette National Forest said.

Smoke from the Deception Complex fire near Oakridge has pushed air quality warnings to moderate in the surrounding cities like Cottage Grove, Creswell, Eugene and Springfield. The "yellow" moderate level is still considered safe by the Lane County Air Protection Agency.
