Two people died when their sedan crashed head on into an oncoming log truck.

Todd Gilman was driving a 2001 Toyota Corolla eastbound on Nonpareil Road when, for an unknown reason, the vehicle veered into the oncoming lane and struck a fully loaded log truck traveling westbound, the sheriff's office said.

Investigators said the head-on collision ejected Todd Gilman and his wife, Tina Gilman, from the vehicle.


The Sutherlin residents, both 50, died at the scene.

A woman stabbed multiple times in the abdomen with a large knife underwent emergency surgery Tuesday morning.

Cheyenne Workman, 21, of Myrtle Point was rushed to Coquille Valley Hospital by Myrtle Point Ambulance.

Her cousin, Jason E Simons, 37, of Myrtle Point is being held on $1 million bail and charges of attempted murder.

State and local police plan stepped up enforcement Wednesday and Friday near the Oregon State campus.

The effort is driven by complaints about bicycles and cars endangering pedestrians, Oregon State Police said.

Student Sara Rue says she was just trying to leave the classroom during a confrontation between a teacher and another student.

You can see Sara Rue heading for the classroom door. The teacher tries to stop Rue and yanked so hard on the top Rue was wearing, that it came off, exposing Rue’s bra.

“Every time I watch it, I want to cry because of how scared I could tell I was, just by the sound of my voice.  Just by me crying,” says Rue.

Agapito Ajeto Jr., aka Sergio aka Pete aka Junior, has been wanted by the Washington State Department of Corrections since August 2014 on suspicion of rape of a child, child molestation and failing to register as a sex offender in King County.

These 19 men are the newest additions to the Washington State Department of Corrections' list of wanted sex offenders.

Local veterans will be making a splash at a South Eugene pool for free each Monday thanks to a new grant.

The Oregon Country Fair grant does give vets a free aerobic activity at Tamarack Pool, but one former military man said he hopes the program will bring waves of change to the often troubled veteran community.

Studies from the Oregon Health Authority show that many veterans suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder. It also shows that the state's returning service men and women have higher suicide rates.

“It gives us all a social network. And that's important for everyone,” said Ted Vasquez, a disabled Vietnam War vet.

The chief executive in charge of the Texas Presbyterian Hospital, where Ebola patient Thomas Duncan's symptoms were incorrectly diagnosed, issued a public apology.

A full-page ad appeared in the Sunday editions of the Dallas Morning News and Fort Worth Star-Telegram newspapers. In the letter, c-e-o Barclay Berdan said Texas Presbyterian "made mistakes in handling this very difficult challenge."
