Prices at the pump are falling, driven by drops in crude oil prices, AAA Oregon said.

“Washington and Oregon have the fourth and fifth largest weekly drops in gas prices in the last week as both averages lose 14 cents, and both states are registering the largest drops in the last month with both averages down 40 cents in that timeframe,” said Marie Dodds with AAA Oregon/Idaho.

The national average for regular unleaded fell 9 cents this week to $3.09 a gallon.

Oregon’s average is down 14 cents to $3.36 per gallon, the lowest since February of this year.

The storm dousing western Oregon on Monday is expected to taper off overnight into Tuesday.

A second "quite wet" storm system will move in Tuesday night, the National Weather Service in Portland said, with rain likely lingering into Thursday. That front may also produce strong coastal winds.

And while all forecasts are subject to change, forecasters see a third system setting up for a wet weekend.

The University of Oregon officially entered the public phase of its fundraising campaign on Friday night with the announcement of a $2 billion effort.

The most ambitious campaign in the UO’s history is also the largest fundraising effort ever undertaken by an organization in the state.

State and local police plan stepped up enforcement Wednesday and Friday near the Oregon State campus.

The effort is driven by complaints about bicycles and cars endangering pedestrians, Oregon State Police said.
