Searchers believe they have located the wreckage of an airplane missing since the aircraft left Creswell on Tuesday. A body was found with the wreckage.

“This work reflects the valuable public input that was incorporated into the Row River Corridor Plan to address trail and road user safety improvements needed at locations where the trail crosses Lane County roads,” said Lydia McKinney, Transportation Planning Supervisor for Lane County Public Works. “We appreciate the community’s patience as these improvements are made to enhance the recreational opportunities along the trail.”

The improvements are part of the response to the death of Michele Portmann in 2011. The retired high school counselor was hit and killed by a truck as she rode her bicycle along where the trail crosses a road.

The trial for a former police officer accused of killing 19-year-old Oregon college student Jenny Gamez and leaving her body in a suitcase along a rural Wisconsin highway has been delayed until November.
