Area radio stations, with the help of Roseburg Forest Products and United Community Action Network (UCAN), held a food drive called 'Need in Weed' Friday at the Sherm's Thunderbird grocery store in Roseburg. Dozens of Douglas County residents stopped by to donate essentials like canned food and basic toiletries.

Motorcycle crash slows traffic on I-5 north of Coburg

A crash is blocking northbound traffic on Interstate 5 late Friday morning about six miles north of Coburg.

The crash involves a motorcycle; no word from officials on if anyone was hurt in the crash.

Council makes 6-2 vote for fresh start with Eugene City Hall

The Eugene City Council voted six to two on Wednesday in favor of building a new city hall, rather than renovating the current structure at 8th and Pearl Street.

The decision came after a work session on Tuesday to hear the pros and cons of each proposal.

Estimates show that phase one of the project will cost the city around $8 million less to build new than it would to renovate the half-century old city hall structure.

There have been nearly a dozen car crashes in Lane County since the rain began Tuesday night, Springfield Police said.

Wednesday was the wettest day in Oregon since February. The rain drops mixed with months of oil and dirt that had built up on the roadways, and police said that contributed to the high crash volume.

Springfield Police Sergeant Rich Charboneau said drivers not watching their their speed and surroundings also make for dangerous rainy day driving.

A lost dog is finally on her way back home. Gidget was missing for a year from her Pennsylvania home and she somehow ended up in Washington County.

While the shelter has no idea how the pup made it across the country, but now they are sending the Jack Russell terrier back home.

“Yeah it's been exciting and fun for us all and one of the things we're excited about, it’s been really brought up the importance of microchipping your pet,” one shelter worker said.
