Local Distracted driving problems for school buses and school zones Distracted driving problems for school buses and school zones (Video)
As schools across the country get ready class to start back up, law enforcement agencies are asking drivers to watch out for students walking to school or waiting or the bus.

Some school transportation experts say there has been a sudden surge in dangerous driving in school zones and around school buses that they blame mostly on distracted drivers.

“There are more than a hundred children killed and more than 25,000 injured every year in collisions that occur or accidents that occur during the process of getting to or from school,” said Charles Territo of American Traffic Solutions, a company that sets up cameras on buses and in school zones.

In June, officers used a doughnut to lure the 1-year-old bear when they realized she was underweight, and brought her to PAWS for rehabilitation. Naturalists reintroduced the bear to her native diet of skunk cabbage and berries, and discovered she doesn't like radishes or watermelon.
