Some of the racers in Sunday’s Eugene Marathon are getting some tips for the big day while picking up their race numbers at the Health and Fitness Expo at Matthew Knight Arena.

Race organizers expect nearly 6,000 runners from across the nation and world to hit the 26-mile course through Eugene.

“I look for races all over the country that are fun and challenging, and also fast and furious. So I love the scenery and I love to just get out there and run,” said Scott McLelland, a marathon runner from North Carolina.

The Eugene Marathon will bring thousands of runners and spectators to the streets of Eugene on Sunday.

And whether you are running, watching or even avoiding the race, the 26.2 mile run means road closures and traffic delays.

A notorious, derelict boat that sank in Tacoma's Hylebos Waterway has been refloated and towed to Seattle to be dismantled. The 167-foot freighter Helena Star went under in January 2013, and has spilled at least 640 gallons of oil and diesel into the waterway. Kristie Kilcullen accepted a $3,000 donation Thursday from NW Natural on behalf of the Kilcullen Project.

The non-profit is an effort to support the community, which is something about which Eugene Police Officer Chris Kilcullen extremely passionate, his widow said.
 
The donation comes just days before a pair of memorial rides set for this upcoming weekend.
