Armed law enforcement officers arrested a homicide suspect Tuesday afternoon after police found a woman dead at the Fast Stop convenience store earlier that morning, Roseburg Police said.

John Flannigan, 27, of Roseburg, was booked into the Douglas County Jail on murder charges Tuesday afternoon shortly after officers served a search warrant at his house off SE Ohio Street.

The University of Oregon’s President's Review Panel held its second session responding to a number of sexual assaults and rapes near campus on Tuesday, just three days after a woman was allegedly raped near Autzen Stadium.

The sessions ask for public input on how the university can better respond to and prevent sexual crimes on campus.

A young man died and a young woman was seriously injured in a car crash late Saturday night when an SUV rolled down a 40-foot embankment off of Old Stagecoach Road north of Highway 126 West, Oregon State Troopers said.

A family member, who was out looking for the 18-year-old girl, discovered the crash scene early Monday morning after hearing the teenager's cries for help, Oregon State Police said.

Oregon State Police said paramedics pronounced Eugene's Canyon Arthur McCardel, 18, deceased at the scene. 18-year-old Hannah Smith, of Eugene, was taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

A teenage suspect is in custody after a he allegedly raped a woman who was walking along Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. near Autzen Stadium last night, the Eugene Police Department said.

Officers said the victim was taken to the hospital with facial wounds after she reported she was raped Saturday night on the south side of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard near the Leo Harris Parkway.

A K-9 unit led officers to a 17-year-old suspect hiding in the brush near the pathway to the Autzen footbridge, Eugene Police Sgt. Ryan Molony said.

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- A teenager and toddler were sleeping in an SUV when an intoxicated woman stole the vehicle from a Safeway parking lot Saturday afternoon, Springfield Police said.

The incident started at around 3:50 p.m. Saturday when a woman, later identified as Tamela Trice, 23, of Springfield, stole an SUV with a 17-year-old and a 2-year-old sleeping in the car, Springfield Police Sergeant Kirkpatrick said.

Trice crashed into a fence in the Coin Laundry parking lot, got out of the car and tried to wipe her fingerprints from the steering wheel, Sgt. Kirkpatrick said, leaving the teenager and the 2-year-old unharmed in the car.

Thanks to a couple of observant witnesses at Safeway, police found Trice's address by tracing the plates of the van she drove to the store.

Trice was booked at the Lane County Jail on two counts of first-degree kidnapping, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, DUII, resisting arrest and two counts of reckless endangering.
