A man faces charges of murder and arson after a house fire July 16 near Creswell.

The human remains found in the home on Bryant Road have been identified as Dennis Michael Kelly, 65, and Carl Robb McFarland, 69.

Both men lived on the farm and were missing in the aftermath of the fire.

The IAAF World Junior Track and Field Championships get underway Tuesday morning, marking the first time the IAAF has held an event of any kind in the United States since 1992.

This is the junior championship's first appearance on U.S. soil.

If all goes well this week local organizers with TrackTown USA hope its just the start of more to come: Eugene is one of three cities bidding to host the 2019 World Championships.

Ready, set, go - to the fair

Rain or shine, the annual Lane County Fair kicks off Wednesday.

Crews were working to put the finishing touches on the midway before visitors arrive.

"There's always a lot of last-minute stuff that just can't get done until Tuesday," said Rachel Bivens with the fair, "but we're all used to it, and we all love it, and we thrive on it."

The "Keyboard Kitten" came to life for author Bob Welch early one morning last year with unexpected help of his own cat.

"One morning he literally walked across the keyboard, and he started typing letters and numbers and asterisks and such," Welch recalled, "and I said to myself: children's book."

Welch teamed up with his good friend and illustrator Tom Penix, and Comma the kitten's adventures in Oregon began.

One book just wasn't enough.

Comma is back in the sequel, "The Keyboard Kitten Gets Oregonized".
