The City of Springfield said this week that Old City Artists, owned by Erik Nicolaisen, was chosen to install the official Simpsons mural slated for the west side of the Emerald Arts Building in downtown Springfield.

Police located the fourth Ethiopian track athlete reported missing over the weekend from the IAAF World Junior Championships in Eugene Tuesday evening in Federal Way, Wash.

Pets are more likely than humans to come into direct contact with rabid species. Vaccination is recommended, but pet owners also need to be proactive.

A fox tested positive for rabies for the first time in decades in Lane County.

"The 1960s would be the last confirmed, documented case that is well known," said Jason Davis with Lane County Health.

In Oregon, bats are often associated with the rabies virus.

An infected fox is unusual, and the community should be aware of the possible danger, Davis said.

"Foxes have more access to humans," he said. "Whereas a bat is airborne and while they do rest and interact with humans in some way, a fox could potentially pose more of a risk being in the bushes."
